Of course it did, and it also made us more vulnerable in the event of EMP attack. Our clunkers being pre computer could withstand the Electromagnetic Pulse that would bring down the newer computer driven vehicles. It makes us that much easier to control. Only those holding on to their clunkers will be able to travel should an attack via EMP occur. Of course finding gas pumps that work will also be difficult. The older stations which are being regulated to death will be some of the only ones able to pump gas.
